Other Issues
If we haven't answered your questions, feel free to write to support@weeno.com.
Weeno is a website where we encourage the free exchange of knowledge.
Everyone is an "expert" on some topic. They become experts because of career choice, hobby, or necessity... but regardless - everyone has a certain skill... a topic that their friends come to them about.
The problem, however, is after devoting so much of your time to this single topic... you don't have the slightest clue about other areas.
This is what Weeno is all about. Share your knowledge and learn from others.
2. How much does it cost? (ie. What's the catch?)
Weeno is free.
The only things we ask:
a. Submit your Tips, Tutorials, and How To's on most any topic (see the Requests for ideas).
b. Spread the word to all your friends.
3. What kind of topics and level of experience are you looking for?
Almost any topics are welcome so long as they provide your readers with some useful information. (Tips, Tutorials, How To's)
Remember to limit yourself in scope to make the task more managable. For example. "Intro to Photography" might require a substantial time investment to encompass everything you want to address. Breaking it down would make it easier for you to dash off a quick article and easier for people to zero in on the information they want to read. For example, write one today about "How to choose the right film speed." Then, later "How to use the Flash effectively", etc...
When in doubt: Talk to me like I'm 4 years old.
Remember, there are _all_ levels of experience. While we welcome articles written for any level of experience, we would like to see many articles aimed at beginners.
Remember, you don't have to write an article on your profession. Tell us how to play your favorite card game, or how to get involved in your favorite hobby.
4. What kind of topics do you NOT want?
All articles are filtered for appropriate content, but here are some guidelines:
- Original material only. Please don't infringe on the copyrights of others.
- No articles on illegal or overtly dangerous topics. For example: stealing credit card #s or making bombs.
- Please keep content clean. In the future, if such articles are requested/submitted, we may have an adult oriented section.
5. How long does an article have to be?
There is no length requirement. Write as much or as little as you want.
6. But I don't know anything that would be useful to anyone else!
That's not true! Remember, what's a simple task for you, may be impossible for someone else. We're always learning things...
Remember freshman year of college? "Now, what's this I've been hearing about seperating colors and whites?" It may seem ridiculous now, but if you haven't done laundry before, it might be a formidable task.
If you're still uncertain, look around at the current articles and requests and see if you get any ideas.
7. But someone already wrote an article on a topic I wanted to do! (And it's not very good)
You're welcome to write another one! Topics are never "closed". If you feel you can do a better job than an existing article - we encourage you to submit your own. Or, if you simply feel you can fill out some gaps that were left in a previous article, send us your addendums, or add comments to the article.
8. Can I use HTML in my article? Can I use Images?
Yes... you may use some of the HTML tags.
Here are "approved" HTML Tags:
<CENTER></CENTER> - Center
<B></B> - Bold
<I></I> - Italics
<tt></tt> - Teletype
<hr> - Line
<table></table> - Table
Colored Text for emphasis
Generally, Tags should be used for formatting and making your article look nice.
Please do NOT use:
Links to Images outside of Weeno - To submit images with your article, please read the instructions to Submit Images.
Changes in background color or image. We would like all Weeno articles pages to carry the same Look and Feel.
<P> or <BR> tags. These tags are automatically included... if you place them in yourself, you'll get oddly spaced articles.
As always, we reserve the right to edit articles.
9. Can I advertise my company in my article?
Please keep articles informative. Articles that are simply ads for your company will not be accepted as submissions. If you submit a useful article, we would be happy to place an ad for your website at the bottom. Please click here for details.
Of course, if you are simply a satisfied customer, or have particular vendors that you like to use, feel free to provide their names.
No, but it makes it more fun! :)
Registration is provided for users to start building up reputations and collections of articles. By registering, your name will appear as a link that people can click on. When they click on your name, it will show them your profile and all the articles you've written on Weeno.
You may submit articles without registering, and your name will appear without a link.
