I have tried many different cleaners to clean a bathtub. Most required lots of scrubbing and made my arms tired. But, no more! There is a cleaner called "ZUD" which looks like generic Comet, but works sooooooo much better. (Works for sinks, too) It is found in the cleaners isle of the grocery store, or if not there, of a hardware store like Lowe's.
1) Buy ZUD. Do not waste your time with other cleaners. If anyone knows of anything better or similar, please add to this article, for sometimes, ZUD is hard to find.
2) Dampen the tub, either by turning on the shower for a second or just turning on the faucet and splashing water around. Then sprinkle ZUD generously on the tub.
3) Let sit for about 10+ minutes or so-- it's not a science, just go do something else and come back later.
4) As you scrub away the ZUD, the tub becomes clean with very little effort.
5) Repeat as needed. Sometimes the areas that were not damp do not come clean. Rather than try to scrub them clean, I just repeat the process. Also, for extra tough stains (i.e. brown iron stains were the water drips), poor lots of ZUD on the area and rub it into a paste and let it sit. (If you have a drip in your faucet and have made a paste of ZUD under it, put a washcloth over the faucet to catch the water, or it will just wash the ZUD away and it won't work.)
I tend to use a lot of ZUD, since it is cheap and I don't like to work hard when ZUD can do the work for me.
You can get a lot of credit from whomever you share household chores with and easily impress them with this cleaning technique. You can use this as bargaining ground to get out of some chore you don't like, since normally no-one likes to clean the bathtub, but you can be so kindhearted as to accept the task.
CAUTION: I have no idea what is in this stuff, but it works so well it scares me. Read the label for official stuff.
