I have had hours of fun startling people with this one at work...

This is the "baby rattlesnake" gag. When done correctly (not hard) you have an envelope labeled "Baby Rattlesnake" sitting on your desk. Someone will, invariably, pick it up and look inside at which point the envelope rattles loudly and shakes. In my experience, this results in a scream as the person throws the envelope down.

You need:
- 2 paperclips (one preferably larger than the other)
- a rubberband
- an envelope

Please refer to the image below when creating the "Rattlesnake"

1. Bend the larger paperclip into a bow shape with "hooks" on the ends (grey).

2. Bend the smaller paperclip into a similar shape with the "hooks" pointing the opposite way (black).

3. Loop one end of the rubberband onto one "hook" end of the smaller paperclip.

4. Take the other end of the rubberband around both "hook" ends of the larger paperclip, and loop it around the final "hook" end of the smaller paperclip.

5. Now, wind up the smaller paperclip within the larger one, and put the whole thing in the envelope so that it doesn't unwind until someone opens it.

6. Label the evelope "Baby Rattlesnake" and wait for your first victim.

HAVE FUN!
