The best way to prevent diaper rash is to make sure your baby's behind is dry. That's the whole secret. Once you've cleaned the area with either a damp cloth or a wipe, simply dry him off.
You can do this a number of ways. You can wait for the moisture to dry in the air. You can fan the fanny with the diaper before putting it on.
If after all this, your child still manages to get diaper rash, apply a generous amount of A+D ointment available at any drugstore.
Zinc Oxide is good for preventing diaper rash, but once it develops, does nothing to cure it.
