Your 10 years old, and you want a new bicycle, or a new nintendo. Mom and Dad say "No way, earn the money yourself".
What is a kid to do? The possibilities are endless, all it will take is some imagination and a little bit of work.
Think about the chores you do for your parents. Do you take the trash out? Maybe one of your neighbors would like it if you took their trash out, and put it out on the curb for them on trash day.
Do you run errands? Would the lady next door appreciate it if you ran errands for her?
If you are old enough, offer to mow the grass for the neighbors. You could even offer to pick up trash that blows in to yards. Walking dogs is a good way to help out your neighbors and earn a little money.
How much to charge? Set a fair price, but be willing to negotiate with the person recieving your service. .50 to take the trash out to the street is not unreasonable, after all, it will only take you 5 miniuts. 2.00 to walk a dog for at least half an hour is fair. If you set your rates too high, no one will want to hire you.
Make sure that you give good value for the service provided. If the lady next door needs you to run an errand, don't stop to play on the way. Do it and then go play. If you take the trash out, pick up any trash that falls on the ground, and when the trash is empty put the can back. You want repeat customers.
If your customer is not happy with your service, offer to correct the problem, for free. You will build goodwill and repeat buisiness. One of the most important things to remember is: The customer is always right.
It is not hard for a child to earn spending money. No one is going to just give it to you, unless of course Grandma sends you money for your birthday.
Look at your skills, and how they can be used to help someone else. Give what ever task you have your best effort, and go one step further. Most important, enjoy your self, it will make any job easier.
