JPEG/JPG/GIF images can easily be viewed using any graphical internet browser. Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator are usually set as the "default" viewers for these file types. If yours is not, it is easy to set up.
In Navigator:
Click on Edit, then Preferences. Under Category, click the '+' sign next to Navigator to expand it, then click on Applications. This will open up a listing of all application types for your computer. Find the application type you wish to use, click on it, then hit Edit. A new box will open up that will allow you to choose either Navigator or another program as your default viewer. OK out, and you should be set.
Explorer is similar:
Click on View, then Options. Click the Programs tab at the top, then the File Types button, then edit as before.
If you still cannot view the attachments, check that they are complete and have the correct .jpg, .jpeg, or .gif suffix.
If not, change the file name to reflect this.
You can also try detaching the attachment to your desktop prior to viewing, as attempting to open it within some email programs may conflict with viewing in the browsers.
